New Year Message: Consuelo Vidal Bruce, United Nations Resident Coordinator a.i. in Uzbekistan
Assalomu Alaykum Uzbekiston!
My name is Consuelo Vidal and I am the Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan.
I was born and raised in Peru, the fourth largest country in South America after Brazil, Argentina and Mexico.
I have more than 30 years of development experience in my country and within the UN system.
As diversity is one of the values of the UN, throughout my career as a Latin American woman I have worked in such countries as Namibia, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Republic of North Macedonia, Honduras, Armenia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Cuba.
Uzbekistan is a new country for me: I know Uzbekistan has a rich history, a colorful culture and inspirational hospitality. Every day I learn something new about Uzbekistan and will keep exploring the country.
I also come from a country with an ancient history and culture, so I admire and can relate very well with the richness and diversity of your culture.
I am very excited to be in Uzbekistan to lead the UN system in this country and accompany Uzbekistan in its critical development journey.
In this new year, the UN family in Uzbekistan is committed to continue working with national and international partners and the people of Uzbekistan to achieve concrete and tangible results to deliver an overarching vision of a just, equal and resilient society.
And I look forward meeting with many of you: our national and international partners, youth and civil society organizations and support Uzbekistan’s ambitious development agenda to leave no one behind!
Happy New Year! Feliz año nuevo!
Yangi Yilingiz Bilan Tabriklayman!
Sog’ va Omon Bo’linglar.
